Ahh, a title that sums up the pursuit of the entire human race. Finding a true identity is the goal of every human from the moment they are born and follows them even to death. Sadly, there are those who miss out on the greatest joy of being defined by Christ by choice. True identity brings peace and fulfillment in a life that is filled to the brim in heartache and tragedy. This article addresses finding true identity in Christ and removing yourself from the shadow of someone else's life.

Cases of Mistaken Identity and True Identity
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10, ESV).
Case 1: A girl was born into a family that was founded on sex before marriage, quarrel, strife, and early divorce. Later in life, around the time of her 9th birthday, her biological mother walked out of her life too caught up in her own issues and pursuing men, marrying again and deserting yet another family. A court case started around the time she was nine by her biological father after he had remarried. Yet, later in life, he fell into a few addictions of his own as did most of her relatives. The year she turned 21, she started pursuing acceptance outside of the house since she didn't feel accepted at home. This led to sexual immorality. Yet, God did not abandon her. A year later, she accepted Christ as her savior. Now 25, she is still living out the precautions of someone else's sin and her immediate family's second marriage that has since lost its hope, but now lives a life that is fulfilled and defined by Christ rather than sin and tragedy.
Case 2: Several boys and girls are exploited for labor and commercial sex, sold into slavery by their own families. Their lives are riddled with continuous healing and trying to find an identity. Thankfully, God has allowed several organizations to give them new hope and provide rescue.
There are millions of people in the world now that live life without one of their parents in their lives. Either they grew up without one of them, or life dealt an unexpected tragedy. This number has continued to rise since the late 2000s at an unprecedented accelerated rate. The death of a loved one or the walking away of a parent by choice isn't the only tragedy sin has to offer, unfortunately. Where is the good news in the chaos, heartache, and tragedy? Where is the "light at the end of the tunnel" so to speak?
Finding True Identity
"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20, ESV).
The answer lies in Christ. When God sent His only begotten son to Earth to die on a cross for the sin of mankind, the power of sin was crushed and a way back to God was established as a one-time atonement for eternity. Death has lost its sting and sin has no victory. Countless tragedies will strike in this life that is far beyond our human understanding. But sin can be understood. The reason for life's tragedy is the result of the fall of mankind mentioned in Genesis 3. When this occurred, judgment ensued and is the reason why life has death, abandonment, murder, lust, etc
Let's look at case 1. This is my story. I was abandoned by my mother at nine years old. She sent me things temporarily and letters, but wasn't actively involved in my life so it is considered abandonment. The result of this planted a seed at a young age that I didn't have a purpose. In a child's eyes, and the eyes of a young adult, if my own mother could abandon me and immediate family be so consumed with strife and their own addictions that they let their own marriage tear a household apart, I didn't have a purpose. In my eyes, I was just merely the product of a relationship that resulted in sin before marriage. There are countless people who pursue much the same pleasures, yet it leads to emptiness and sin wanting more sin so they strive to always pursue their fantasies. They don't realize the trail of destruction they are leaving behind for others.
At 22 years old, God sought after me in the midst of my own sin and brought me to the realization of my own destructive path I had caused. Seeing myself for who I was and the need for a savior is what saved my life. This is the year I gave my life to Christ, truly this time and not through a false conversion. Finding true identity in Christ was a pursuit I started to run when I was converted. I used to yearn for acceptance from others, but now find more gratification from the One who made me. I urge others to accept God's free gift of salvation and replace your case of mistaken identity for true identity. Let the One who made you define you.
Case 2 is the banner of existence for nonprofit organizations such as the Exodus Road and Agape International Missions. Countless operations are spent looking for victims of human trafficking and sex traffickers. Many more hours are poured into the victims in the recovery units and hospitals. Sin makes a mark on everything, yet God has provided hope. Read below in the "Lending a Hand" title on how you can help this cause.
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace" (Ephesians 1:7, ESV).
While this world only offers temporary gratification and tragedy, God offers eternal life and peace. He didn't promise this life would be easy, but those who accept Him can rest assured that they are a new creation in Him and they will not be forgotten or forsaken.

Human Trafficking is Today’s Slavery
The numbers of the victims of human trafficking and the stories behind the numbers are why Blissful Faith is partnering with nonprofit organizations to help fund rescues and recovery programs for those entrapped in bondage. Each number is a person. You can be the one to help make a difference by purchasing a shirt (coming soon to the blog in a few weeks) or by ordering a downloadable product currently in the store, in which proceeds will go to nonprofits that seek to give a voice to the voiceless. See more on human trafficking from my previous articles below:
Blissful Faith started as a lifestyle and branched into a blog to help others hear about Jesus Christ and how they too can develop a blissful faith through knowing God. This blog’s purpose is to be an evangelical outreach to further the kingdom of Christ. Furthering the kingdom means stretching outside of the comfort zone, comprehending and working towards meeting the needs of others. Putting faith to action keeps it from becoming stagnant.
Blissful Faith Merchandise
The Blissful Faith Merchandise store helps both this blog to grow and to meet the needs of others. About 8-10% of the proceeds will go to The Exodus Road and Agape International Missions to help combat human trafficking. The funds will help assist in rescue operations, providing shelter, and recovery programs to those in bondage.
